Haryana CM held a press conference at Purshotam Bagh in Brahamsarovar complex at Kurukshetra, and he was accompanied by Swami Gyananand, Kurukshetra MP Nayab Singh Saini, Haryana sports and youth affairs minister Sandeep Singh, Thanesar MLA Subhash Sudha and they first released a song related to IGM.

CM Manohar said that during the celebration of IGM, the COVID-19 protocols will be strictly followed and thermal screening and vaccination will be done as per the requirements at various entrances of the venue.
“In 2014, when the Prime Minister Narendra Modi had visited Kurukshetra, he had talked to give identification to Kurukshetra as Geeta Sthali (birthplace of Bhagvada Geeta) and the government started celebrating Geeta Mahotasava at the international level since 2016”, said CM Khattar.
Counting the development works being done in Kurukshetra, CM Manohar said, “A grand statue of Virat Swaroop of Lord Krishna is being developed at the cost of about Rs 13.63 crore at Jyotisar. Under ‘Swadesh Darshan Yojana’ of the Government of India, Kurukshetra has been added to ‘Shri Krishna Circuit’, and under its first phase, we got a budget of about Rs 97 crore, which is being spent on different development works of shrines. At Jyotisar on the theme of Mahabharta, a state-of-the-art bhawan (building) worth about Rs 205 crore is being developed on about 2 acres of land and about 80 per cent of its work has been completed. The railway station of Kurukshetra is also being renovated. Under ‘Divya Kurukshetra Yojana’ special focus is being given on Kurukshetra’s cleanliness.”
CM Manohar also announced that 30 more shrines related to 48 Kos Tirtha (shrines) are being added to the list of Kurukshetra Development Board (KDB) and their number will rise from 134 shrines to 164.
He also announced plans to develop ‘Pravesh Dwars’ (entrance gates) at all entry points of Kurukshetra like Karnal.
Haryana CM expressed his commitment towards cultural upliftment and said that Kurukshetra is being given an upliftment from a religious point of view.
CM Manohar announced that an IGM Committee will be formed and registered soon, which will take care of all its affairs from the future and ensure participation of different organisations of the country and abroad, for its success. He said that the government, administration and KDB will support this IGM committee.
He said that over 3,700 artists from the country and foreign countries will attend the event, 21 sculptures will be made here, and 75 renowned artirts will do painting here for three days.
He said that as the Union government is celebrating ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsava’, it will also be marked during IGM.
He said a three-day seminar will be held at Kurukshetra University, a total of 75 families of freedom fighters will be honoured and Geeta Sansad (Geeta Parliament) will be organised in the state universities on December 13.
CM Manohar said that it is also expected that Prime Minister Narendra Modi would join the event on one-day during the IGM through online mode.
Haryana CM said prominent attendees of IGM 2021 will be Lok Sabha speaker Om Birla, Union tourism minister G Kishan Reddy, Union education minister Dharmendra Pradhan, Gujarat Governor Acharya Devvrat and others.
